No Tithes in the Church of Doom

So, if Zodiac can shield himself from vampires by wearing a gold chain with his name as a symbol of his faith, should we assume Dr. Doom is likewise impervious to vampires?

Yes, I know, "How would a vampire bite him through the armor?" I mean besides that, smart guy.

Who has more faith in themselves than Victor von Doom? Even massive egoists like Tony Stark and Reed Richards occasionally doubt themselves. They just don't, unfortunately, ever actually listen to those doubts.

But DOOM is beyond doubts. Even what appears failures to lesser minds are, in fact, only another step in Doom's inevitable path to absolute victory. For the good of the universe. I imagine for a vampire, entering Doom's castle is like walking into a church. Everything burns.

So the question really is, what would do wear as a symbol of his faith in himself? Zodiac had a gold chain with his name on it, but that's so gauche, so petty bourgeois. Doom isn't going to wear something like that.

A little Doom doll, I mean collectible figurine? Nah.

A big medallion? A little too '70s.

A picture of his unscarred face in one of those lockets people usually reserve for their great loves? Now we're getting somewhere.

Well, you've already answered your own question, I think. Doom has such faith in himself that he doesn't need a symbol. He is his own symbol.

I do love the idea of Doom being just flat out immune to vampires because of his supreme self confidence.

The more his self-confidence grows, the wider the effect. That's why Dracula put his castle on the moon in Paul Cornell's Captain Britain and MI-13 book, Doom was really feelin' it that week.

Dracula on the Moon. Bless you, Paul Cornell.

Him and Chris Hastings (courtesy of Adventures of Dr. McNinja) both!

Oh yes! I'd forgotten that they had both done it! What a glorious time for comics.
