Silly, Stupid, Simple Question

Wolverine's claws (with adamantium, natch).

Black Knight's Ebony Blade.

One's usually described as "unbreakable", the other as "invincible".

If the two were to be brought together, bladed edge to bladed edge, which one is cut? Is either? Are both?

Sorry, but I needed to do a quick post before the thunderstorm moves in.

i would have to go with the ebony blade only because its magic or mystical so it defies science....plus if wolverine were to cut it they would do a story with dane having to go on a quest to get it repaired..like in heroes!!! hahah that would be cool to...
also i would think that if the blade cut logan due to the magic properties it might effect his healing factor..if i was a writer id tell the story that way..
but yeah id go with the ebony blade

I'll say that it would be the Ebony Blade coming out on top. Specifically, I think that being a magical weapon, it would be able to endure clashing against adamantium because, well, adamantium can't cut magic.

Pish posh. I say Wolverine cuts the Ebony blade into tiny little steak knives. Invincible? They called Tony Stark the Invincible Iron Man, but he's looking VERY vincible lately.

Gosh, I'm just being contrary today!

gabesummers: So that's 1 for the Ebony Blade. And I don't know what it's about, but Black Knight is gonna be part of that "Mystic Arcana" mini-event Marvel's doing this summer, and in Tieri's run on New Excalibur, he said the sword he was carrying wasn't the real Ebony Blade, so maybe he's on a quest for the real one?

len!: And that's 2 for magical sword!

sallyp: I don't know. Tony's smugness and self-confidence seem pretty "invincible". Either way, it's 2-1 for the Ebony Blade!

The Ebony blade wins but wolvie's claws remain intact

zen isn't it

Wolvie's claws are 'unbreakable' just like my comb. And we all remember how Futurama takes care of 'unbreakable' combs...

Honestly, I feel the need to bust out my scholarly creds here. Unbreakable is just that--can't be broken. Invincible is far different. It basically means unconquerable.

Real ebony blade vs. Adamantium claws. I'm going to go with the unconquerable blade.

Ebony.

Magic can beat Superman it can sure as hell beat a canadian and his steak knives.

Lets see Magneto turn the Ebony Blade into spaghetti. Or, actually, lets see it molten down to be reshaped. Adamantium has to be "breakable", or at least shapeable, to some degree, right? Otherwise how did they get it on his bones?

dumma: You are blowing my mind right now.

todde: So Wolvie's claws are gonna get knocked over? 4-1 to the Ebony Blade.

mallet: What about the booze and body hair? Couldn't that have some sort of magic-defying properties? 5-1.

nothingstopstheblob: But the Ebony Blade has to malleable too, doesn't it, or how did it get formed into a blade? Or was it an ordinary blade that was enchanted later? 6-1.

Let's mix it up some! From the Wiki entry on the Ebony Blade:
'It also had many mystical or quasi-mystical capabilities, including the ability to:

* cut through virtually any physical substance except other enchanted weapons or extremely strong metals like adamantium ...

The Blade formerly rendered its wielder invulnerable to everything except another weapon carved from the same meteor'

Oops!

matthew: So that means it would be a draw? Which means dumma was probably closest to right all along?

And it's carved from a meteor? Ohhh-kay.

Actually, this question has been answered. In the X-Men Vs the Avengers mini-series (1987) # 2, Dane Whitman's sword withstood Logan's claws, to the latter's surprise.
