Making Up For Lost Time

Since there was no commentary from Adorable Baby Panda last week, we're going to look over the last two weeks' of comics this go-round. So ABP, proceed with applause, hugs, and bonks.

Applause, Bonks - Ronan (Annihilation). On the one hand, ABP, whole-heartedly approves of his dealing with the traitorous House of Fiyero. On the other, ABP doesn't believe in mercy killing, so the end of the Supreme Intelligence was not well-received {I thought it was a nice moment personally}.

Applause - Galactus (Annihilation). Because he's fixing to make his presence felt, and it looks like it'll be awesome.

Applause, Hug - Brenda (Blue Beetle). She's understandably freaked out about being shifted to another place, and nearly being bled to death by little whiskered things {Hopefully a panda wouldn't wig her out}. Still, she was making those little suckers work for their sacrifice. Bravo.

Applause - Thunderbird (Exiles). Trapped in his own mind, he came face-to-face with the being he hated, and he didn't surrender to despair. Trust in his teammates and himself triumped over uncertainty. {Sounds very Jedi}.

Applause - Wu Ao-Shi (Iron Fist). She defended her land from raiders by firing arrows of Iron Fist chi... stuff. Whatever. It was freaking awesome.

Hugs, Bonk - Randall (Iron Fist). He's being hunted, and ends up doing things he'd really rather not do, so some cuteness might help. Of course, the punching someone so hard they get tore in half was a bit overkill. {Seriously, you're trying to avoid detection and capture, stop being so high-profile}.

Applause - Human Torch (Amazing Spider-Man). Risked capture to go find Spider-Man and bring him into Cap's fold. {We're still aren't sure how Peter got in contact with Johnny, but that's besides the point}.

Applause - Arana (Ms. Marvel). She makes plans to go on with patrol with her apparent mentor. What happened with Julia Carpenter may have opened her eyes about what the world is like now, but it hasn't diminshed her desire to be a hero. {Carol, pay attention. This girl looks to you for guidance. Stop going all the way with a guy on the first date. Seeing as he's probably an evil alien, make him work for it}.

Bonk - A.I.M. (Ms. Marvel). One of these days their technology and various evil plans will stop blowing up in their faces (and ours). Not this week though.

So who are your nominees for the week?

Oh, and tomorrow will be the start of my 2006 Year in Review posts. Looks to be about a five-part series now, as I'm going to place comics in large groups. Panda input may or may not be included, depends on how our schedules synch up.

How does ABP feel about Jonah Hex taking bloody vengeance on the guy that tortured him and killed the Apache tribe that raised him (and later gave him that famous scar after a tragic misunderstanding)?

Woosh. All that in one issue.

Oh, and maybe a hug for poor Speedball now that he's turned into a (literally) bloody masochist.

Hmmm. Better not show him Civil War: Frontline at all. It's really not for adorable baby eyes.

fortress: After a consultation, ABP gives Jonah a round of applause. As for Speedball, ABP gave the hug to me, for being so bummed out about it.

Yes, please keep poor little baby panda away from Civil War. Arrghhh! (although I found the interplay between Namor and Sue...oddly intriguing)

sallyp: Don't worry, ABP had enough of Civil War after issue 4.

And by interesting, do you mean Sue was coming on to Namor, or that Namor wasn't hitting on Sue for once? Or something else entirely?

Hard to say...it was just getting to the interesting point with Sue and Namor, and then they darted off in another direction. I had stopped reading Civil War, but I'm afraid that I succumbed and actually read this one. Crying a little on the inside.

I really should just stick to Green Lanterns.

sallyp: Isn't that just like Civil War to shift gears at the point something's getting good.

And if the only other option is Civil War, then definitely stick to Green lanterns.
